Job Details

GENERAL SUMMARY:

As a Fleet Maintenance Technician, you'll ensure that all trucks, trailers, and yard tractors are functioning properly and meet federal compliance standards.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Diagnose and repair truck and trailer components including doors, floors, side panels, electrical systems, and air brake systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tractor and trailer equipment, completing necessary repair orders.
  • Conduct maintenance repairs to enhance the safety and reliability of fleet vehicles, including tractors, trailers, and lift-gates.
  • Follow company policies and safety protocols to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Assist drivers in resolving vehicle-related concerns.
  • Maintain and repair class 8 trucks, trailers, and yard tractors.
  • Safely operate gauges, forklifts, shunt trucks, torches, grinders, and various hand and power tools.
  • Perform DOT inspections to ensure compliance.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative team player.
  • Expertise in heavy diesel truck and trailer mechanics.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficient in air brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems; welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Tire repair skills (repairing, mounting, dismounting) are preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to conduct repairs in tight spaces and awkward positions.
  • Work environment varies with extreme heat and cold.
  • Responsibilities may involve walking, sitting, or standing for extended periods.
  • Regular bending, stooping, squatting, or kneeling may be required.
  • Fast-paced work environment with potential exposure to noise and heights.
