Hurco Companies, Inc. has an opening for a Mechanical Design Engineer in Indianapolis. The Mechanical Design Engineer will focus on designing and developing mechanical components and systems for advance CNC machinery and automation solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Product design and detail drawings for new concepts and make modifications to existing designs
  • Create test plan and validate designs including thermal, vibration, and life cycle testing
  • Performs mechanical analysis and ensures designs meet functional and safety requirements
  • Resolves design and manufacturing issues using problem solving and decision analysis skills
  • Writes engineering documents that describe fabrication, assembly, testing, and inspection of products
  • Conducts market research to support design decisions and identify emerging trends
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative designs and meet performance, quality, and cost objectives
  • Project management, Team Coordination, Scheduling, and Supplier Management
Competencies:
  • Technical knowledge - strength of materials, casting design, thermal dynamics, motion control systems, mechanical systems (pneumatic, hydraulic, etc.)
  • Ability to meet project deadlines while maintaining quality standards
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact in small and large group settings to accomplish goals
Requirements:
  • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, PLM)
  • 3-5 years design engineering experience, preferably in industrial machinery or automation
  • Product and Supply Chain Management experience a plus
  • Familiarity with ISO standards and technical documentation a plus
