About the Role:
The CNC Machinist plays a critical role in the manufacturing process by operating and maintaining computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce precision parts and components. This position requires interpreting technical drawings and specifications to set up and program machines accurately, ensuring products meet stringent quality standards. The machinist will be responsible for monitoring machine operations, making necessary adjustments, and performing routine maintenance to optimize performance and minimize downtime. Collaboration with engineering and quality assurance teams is essential to troubleshoot issues and implement process improvements. Ultimately, the CNC Machinist ensures efficient production workflows that contribute to the overall success and competitiveness of the manufacturing operation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience operating CNC machines in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Basic knowledge of CNC programming and machine setup.
- Familiarity with precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Completion of a formal CNC machining or manufacturing technology program.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software for programming CNC machines.
- Strong understanding of metallurgy and material properties.
- Certification from a recognized machining or manufacturing organization.
- Demonstrated ability to optimize CNC processes for efficiency and quality.
- Set up, operate, and maintain CNC machines according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Program CNC machines using G-code and other programming languages to produce precision parts.
- Inspect finished products using measuring instruments to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC equipment to maintain optimal functionality.
- Collaborate with engineers and quality control personnel to resolve production issues and improve processes.
- Maintain accurate production records and report any deviations or defects promptly.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Skills:
The CNC Machinist utilizes technical skills daily to interpret complex engineering drawings and translate them into precise machine operations. Proficiency in CNC programming languages enables the machinist to set up and adjust machines for various production runs efficiently. Attention to detail and expertise with precision measuring instruments ensure that all manufactured parts meet exact specifications and quality standards. Problem-solving skills are essential for diagnosing machine issues and implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime. Additionally, strong communication and teamwork skills facilitate effective collaboration with engineers and quality control teams to continuously improve manufacturing processes.
