Summary of position:
The Health and Nutrition Specialist coordinates the efficient implementation of the Health and Nutrition service areas of the Head Start program.

Job Responsibilities (see attached job description for additional details):
  • Establish a workable and effective medical, dental and nutrition program in accordance with health guidelines for Head Start programs.
  • Keep complete medical and dental records on each child which include past history and current information of medical significance.
  • Plan health programs for staff and parents in growth and development, safety and accident prevention, family relationships and other appropriate subjects.
  • Hold individual conferences with parents and staff about related concerns whenever needed.
  • Make home visits and follow-up visits to seek and disperse information on the health status of the child and on the overall program.
Qualifications:
  • Current license to practice as a registered professional nurse as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the practice of public health nursing and school nursing.
  • Knowledge of the growth and development processes of the young child.
  • Knowledge of services performed by other Health and Welfare agencies in the community.

Schedule:
Full-time, 7 hours/day, 12 months/year

Salary:
LPN - $29.65/hour
RN - $31.04/hour
BSN - $33.10/hour
MSN - $34.47/hour
