Background check: As a finalist for a job, you will be subject to a routine background check. The resulting report of your conviction history (if any) will be used to determine whether the nature of your conviction conflicts with the specific duties and responsibilities of the job. A conviction history does not automatically preclude you from a job with L.A. Works. Qualified Applicants with Criminal Histories will be considered for employment in a manner consistent with the California Consumer Reporting Agencies Act requirements and Los Angeles’ Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance.
L.A. Works is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We encourage all applicants to apply and seek to hire qualified staff who reflect the rich diversity of the communities we serve. We define diversity in broad terms to include race, ethnicity, nationality, age, gender, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, disability, geography, socio-economic status, and other unique attributes that make us who we are.
Studies have shown that women, trans, non-binary folks, and BIPOC are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they meet every single one of the qualifications as described in a job description. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive organization and are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job. That candidate may come from a less traditional background to our field of work, and that’s okay. We would strongly encourage you to apply, even if you don't believe you meet all of the qualifiers.
