The Gastroenterology Physician Assistant plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality medical care to patients by providing medical and surgical services, documenting procedures, performing diagnostic tests, and offering direct patient care, including medication prescribing.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with healthcare providers while ensuring compliance with relevant nursing statutes and practices.
- Practice within the specialty of gastroenterology based on advanced educational training.
- Act both independently and as part of a healthcare team to assess, diagnose, treat, and educate patients.
- Utilize established protocols and written authorizations to deliver medical care effectively.
- Assess and manage health problems in various clinical settings, including hospital and outpatient facilities.
- Address public health concerns related to disease prevention and health promotion.
- Handle diagnosis and treatment plans for acute, chronic, and long-term health issues.
- Conduct thorough patient history evaluations and physical examinations across all age groups.
- Interpret laboratory tests and imaging results accurately.
- Employ critical thinking skills to tailor patient care for optimal health outcomes.
- Prescribe and manage medications and therapies to promote health maintenance.
- Perform advanced medical procedures as validated by the credentialing committee.
- Educate patients and families on preventive care and medical treatments.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with the medical staff for consultations and referrals.
- Integrate new knowledge gained from professional development into practice.
- Serve as a mentor to other healthcare professionals, teaching them unique clinical practices.
- Engage in basic and clinical research initiatives.

Requirements:

- Master of Science in Nursing
Experience
- 2 - 3 years of relevant experience
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
- APRN License in the state of employment
- RN License in the state of employment or compact
- BLS Certification
