Job Summary

In this role, you will perform essential duties necessary to treat patients according to physician orders and departmental policies. You will work independently in various acute and critical care settings, collaborating with physicians and healthcare personnel to provide the highest level of care. This position requires expertise in treating patients across all age groups, including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

We offer competitive sign-on bonuses for eligible full-time positions: $7,500 for Direct Care Respiratory Therapists with one year of experience and $5,000 for those with less than one year of experience, provided you are licensed in South Carolina. Accountabilities

• Independently perform respiratory therapy procedures based on physician orders and guidelines - 20%
• Obtain, analyze, and report blood gas results accurately - 10%
• Manage patients requiring various types of invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation - 20%
• Initiate and manage airways and associated equipment - 10%
• Document and charge for all respiratory care procedures, providing education to patients and families - 10%
• Communicate effectively with team members and provide accurate patient reports - 10%
• Adhere to infection control policies, ensuring proper cleaning and sterilization of equipment - 10%
• Demonstrate responsible resource management, including time and supplies

Supervisory/Management Responsibility

This is a non-management position reporting to a supervisor or manager.

Minimum Requirements

Must be a graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program or eligible for license in South Carolina, or a senior student graduating in three months.

Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses

Must hold a valid South Carolina Respiratory Care Practitioner license or be eligible for licensure, along with BLS certification. NBRC credentials must be maintained. New hires since June 2016 should pass the Therapist Multiple Choice Exam and the Clinical Simulation Exam within six months of graduation to ensure continued employment.

NRP and PALS certification is required for those working in the Children's Hospital before independently engaging in NICU and PICU.

Other Required Skills and Experience

Excellent teamwork and communication skills are essential, along with strong computer and organizational abilities.
