Position Overview: As a Healthcare Patient Care Technician, you'll play a vital role in enhancing patient flow and delivering exceptional care within our clinic. Working under the supervision of an on-duty nurse practitioner or physician assistant, your contributions will ensure a stellar patient experience while adhering to our core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe and quality-focused healthcare environment to uphold Joint Commission Accreditation standards.
  • Provide a warm welcome to all patients and visitors in the clinic.
  • Ensure the clinic space is clean and organized daily, including disposing of trash, managing supply orders, and disinfecting equipment.
  • Answer inquiries with utmost respect for HIPAA guidelines and consult providers regarding scope of services.
  • Utilize the Patient Queue, Appointment Tool, and Patient Kiosk systems to manage patient flow efficiently.
  • Conduct the patient registration process, ensuring accurate placement under the appropriate scheduler for the attending provider.
  • Verify patient identity and determine payment methods, logging all relevant information in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Collect insurance details and process any necessary payments, ensuring accuracy in the EHR.
  • Scan documents and alert providers when further documentation is required.
  • Escort patients to examination rooms and identify their chief complaints.
  • Measure vital signs and patient histories, entering data into EHR as per clinic requirements.
  • Continue managing patient flow in the waiting area according to clinic protocols.
  • Provide guidance to waiting patients about registration, estimated wait times, services, and payment options.
  • Respond to phone inquiries, return calls, and conduct daily patient follow-ups.
  • Assist in organizing off-site events as needed.
  • Manage weekly supply orders for provider approval and prepare lab specimens for shipping.
  • For those with advanced competencies, assist providers in obtaining specimens and reporting lab results to patients.
  • Carry out all essential functions of this role with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum:
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Basic computer skills with proficiency in administrative tasks.
    • Strong communication and organizational abilities with a keen attention to detail.
    • Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction).
    • A cooperative attitude in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
    • Exceptional customer service and task management skills.
  • Desired:
    • Prior experience in retail, customer service, or healthcare settings.
    • Understanding of infection control practices.
