Talascend is currently seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Theodore, Alabama.

Overview

The role involves supervising engineering staff on industrial projects, assembling and reviewing bid packages for civil/structural work scopes, and developing conceptual layouts and cost studies to solve engineering tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise engineering staff on industrial projects that range from small to large capital size projects.
  • Assemble and review bid packages for civil/structural work scopes.
  • Produce estimate level preliminary designs and material take-offs suitable for the level of the estimate being performed on a project.
  • Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies as necessary to determine the simplest, most efficient approach to solving engineering tasks.
  • Independently apply knowledge and continuously develop quality programs for the CSA department.
  • Establish related processes and promote a culture that is conducive to quality.
  • Provide guidance and direction to others and support continuous improvement and change management efforts.
  • Perform field work to gather relevant project data and provide construction support as required.
  • Check calculations made by other engineers to ensure code and specification conformance and good engineering practice.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering with recognized accredited program (ABET) in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Minimum 8 years relevant work experience
  • Preferred: Professional Engineer (P. Eng.)
Requirements
  • Familiar with applicable engineering codes (IBC, AISC, ASCE, ACI, etc.)
  • Experience with civil/structural analysis software (Risa 3D & Risa Foundation preferred)
  • Must be proficient with CAD software and Microsoft Office
