Job Summary

The mover position is a physically demanding job that requires moving equipment and furniture, sometimes in excess of 70 lbs. Under the direct supervision of the Moving and Surplus Property Coordinator, the mover utilizes the variety of tools provided by Moving Services to assist with moving and setups. When the department is short-staffed, the mover works closely with delivery workers within the unit. In this role, the mover should possess an engaging and helpful demeanor to serve GCSU students, faculty, staff, and guests.

Responsibilities

Moving - 95
1. Job Requirements

- Physically demanding job
- Moves equipment and furniture, sometimes in excess of 70 lbs.
- Variety of items to be moved, such as tables, chairs, furniture, stages, etc.
- Setups and breakdowns are often under tight deadlines

2. Equipment and Tools

- Movers operate state-owned golf carts and vehicles daily, requiring a valid driver's license
- Movers are provided a variety of tools and equipment to assist with moves for ease and to prevent injury

3. Teamwork and Responsibilities

- Movers work closely with delivery workers within the departmental unit when short-staffed
- Movers are required to work independently and as a team
- Movers are responsible for following daily work order assignments
- Movers access GCSU's Work Order System and emails to fulfill daily moving, setups, and breakdowns

4. Additional Duties

- Movers are often asked to assist Central Receiving with deliveries and other related duties
- Movers should possess an engaging, and helpful demeanor as they serve GCSU students, faculty, staff,
and guests

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent

Other Required Qualifications
Valid Driver's License. Ability to lift 70 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience
- 1 year of moving experience.
- Event setup experience.
- Certified forklift operator.
