Senior Controls Engineering Manager

The Senior Controls Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all engineering deliverables essential for the successful execution of projects from initiation to customer approval. Working closely with the Project Manager, this role effectively translates customer technical requirements into clear engineering tasks, ensuring their completion on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.

As a vital senior leader, the Controls Engineering Manager assigns and coordinates work across multiple engineering disciplines. The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $82,000-$166,000 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

What We Are Looking for:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics).

• Prior experience leading technical deliverables for projects, ideally in material handling.

• 8+ years of experience in engineering or project management.

• Strong customer focus with a proven ability to deliver results.

• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and excellent communication abilities.

• Capability to navigate and influence a complex, matrixed global organization.

What You Will Do In This Role:

• Translate contractual technical requirements into actionable deliverables and tasks for engineering teams (design/layout, emulation, order entry, drawings, commissioning).

• Identify necessary resources across engineering teams and external suppliers; assign and oversee tasks across the project team.

• Ensure all deliverables and solutions adhere to quality standards, processes, and established engineering practices.

• Proactively identify and resolve issues that may impact engineering tasks to avoid project delays.

• Monitor and manage project/team performance to ensure KPIs are met.

• Deliver assigned work packages on time and within budget, as defined by the Project Manager.

• Act as the main point of contact for various stakeholders regarding engineering deliverables.

• Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering/Controls Engineering Leads to ensure third-party specifications and resale component requirements are complete and accurate.

• Partner with the Systems Integration Manager to provide input on project schedules, resource estimates, and adoption of standard designs.

• Align with line managers on availability, performance, and development of engineering resources.

• Track engineering progress against schedules; provide updates with Mechanical/Controls Engineering Leads and System Application Engineers.

• Prepare project status reports, financial forecasts, and schedule updates.

• Support project risk management by documenting, escalating, and mitigating risks; prepare Project Status Reports/Project Variation Reports as needed.

• Lead technical reviews and conduct post-mortems with project managers to drive continuous improvement.
