GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for diagnosing and treating a variety of diseases and injuries in general practice by performing the following job duties.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

1. Elicits and records information about the patient's medical history.
2. Examines patient to determine general physical condition.
3. Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition.
4. Analyzes reports and findings of tests and of examination, and diagnoses condition.
5. Administers or prescribes treatments and drugs.
6. Inoculates and vaccinates patients to immunize patients from communicable diseases.
7. Advises patients concerning diet, hygiene, and methods for prevention of disease.
8. Reports births, deaths, and outbreak of contagious diseases to governmental authorities.
9. Refers patients to medical specialist or other practitioner for specialized treatment.
10. Performs minor surgery per approve privileges.
11. Conducts physical examinations to provide information needed for admission to school, consideration for jobs, or eligibility for insurance coverage.
12. Participate in continuing medical education as required for licensure and skills maintenance.
13. Assists the Medical Director in the coordination of programs, supervision of nurse practitioners, supervision of other medical staff members, recruitment of medical staff members, and continuing medical education endeavors.
14. Actively participate staff meetings and in-services.
15. Assist the medical director and other staff members as needed to cover vacations and sick leave.
16. Provides after hours coverage as assigned.
17. Ensure continuous flow of communication with leadership of healthcare clinic to enhance quality of healthcare service to patients.
18. Assists and complies with HRSA reporting requirements.
19. Works collaboratively with staff to improve quality measures related to patient care.
20. Must maintain confidentiality per HIPAA policies.
21. Must respect patient's rights and responsibilities.
22. Must demonstrate tact in dealing with sensitive matters.
23. Must work in harmony with other members of the healthcare team to provide quality service to patients.
24. Must present MyCare in a positive manner.
25. Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. License to practice as a MD or DO in the State of Michigan and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. DEA Number
3. ACLS (advanced cardiac life support) - preferred, PALS (pediatric advanced life support) - preferred, BLS (basic life support) - required.
4. Ability to work as a team member.
5. Computer experience desirable.
6. Ability to work with a culturally diverse group of people.
7. Must be willing to work flexible hours as required by position.
