About Reading Elementary School (RES)

Reading Elementary is a public PreK - Grade 4 elementary school situated at the heart of Reading, VT. Our identity is strongly tied to our exceptional environment and community.

Strategic Priorities & Vision

The Principal will lead the school in achieving goals grounded in the District's Portrait of a Graduate, specifically seeking to:
  • Foster and promote personalized learning through the concepts of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
  • Expand place-based, outdoor, and environmental education opportunities.
  • Continue providing exceptional programs in the Arts.
Role Expectations & Ideal Candidate

We seek a team-oriented leader with the desire and talent to handle a breadth of daily responsibilities while demonstrating core educational expertise.
1. Core Responsibilities (0.5 FTE Principal)

The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader who manages diverse tasks, including:
    • Facility management
    • Communication with all stakeholders
    • Scheduling and logistics
    • Basic first aid
    • Multigrade instruction support
2. Special Education (0.5 FTE)
  • Willingness and ability to actively support daily special education instruction and serve as a case manager for students.
3. Required Expertise & Leadership

The Principal must possess:
    • A deep understanding of early elementary level teaching and learning.
    • Expertise in effective instruction and assessment practices.
    • Demonstrated leadership in the areas of:
      • Listening
      • Teaming and collaboration
      • Developing a strong professional learning community
