The Active Older Adult (AOA) Coordinator is responsible for the smooth and effective delivery of programs and services for older adults iin the branch and in its off-site community program locations. Responsibilities include planning, marketing, delivering, and evaluating effective educational, cultural, artistic and social activities, trips, and special events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Design, create and lead a regular schedule of programs and services for older adults that foster participant engagement and relationship building.
• Serve as a leader for special events related to Older Adults within the branch and community
• Recruit and provide appropriate, qualified leadership/collaborators for AOA programs.
• Attend pre-scheduled AOA Coordinator meetings to discuss events for the upcoming quarter.
• Present the event schedule and marketing plan to branch leadership monthly.
• Implement and maintain AOA membership retention activities. Monitor monthly AOA connectivity and create strategies to improve participation.
• Ensure that all AOA membership information in Daxko is accurate and current. Reconcile inaccuracies and ineligibles utilizing monthly reports from the appropriate 3rd party insurance information platforms.
• Ensure that promotional materials are distributed at branches.
• Monitor income and expenses in relationship to budget in collaboration with branch and department leadership. Implement actions to ensure sound fiscal management.
• Address all concerns regarding programming (content, safety, instruction, etc.). Respond to member feedback in a timely manner.
• Manage and promote the AOA Volunteer Ambassador Program.
• Gather periodic participant feedback through distribution and compilation of written evaluations.
• Actively promote and assist in YMCA programs and special events.
• Attend required workshops, meetings and training sessions to enhance professional competence and remain current on YMCA of Greater Cleveland procedures; attend staff meetings as directed.
• Be actively and visibly involved with members, volunteers and staff in a positive, friendly manner that communicates and demonstrates the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate Degree preferred.
Experience:
• Minimum 1 year experience in program development.
• Minimum 1 year experience in working with active older adult groups
• Experience in creating and organizing activities for the senior population.
Certification(s) & Requirements:
• Certification in CPR at the level of Basic Life Support or Professional Rescuer, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen Administration and associated-determined safety training required within 30 days of hire
• Must complete Orientation to Healthy Living, and job specific technical training within 90 days of hire.
• Required to attend two in-service trainings per year. Maintain all required certifications

• Demonstrate commitment to the mission, cause of the YMCA, and uphold its values and ethics.
• Ability to work effectively work with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions
• Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect. All employees are required to follow the child abuse and neglect reporting process: completion of Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect reporting form, calling children protective services (696-Kids) and notifying your immediate supervisor, branch executive, risk management and human resources department (s).

• Ability to lift/move up to 20 lbs.

• Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
• The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to noisy
• May be required to work outside and on occasion may encounter inclement weather
• Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
• Performs work in an office setting with moderate levels of noise, sitting for long periods of time, repetitive motion using computers and phones, with exposure to fluorescent lighting
