Responsibilities
- As a valued member of our team, you will:
- Provide assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient and family needs during the disease process as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Collaborate with supervising/collaborating physician(s) in accordance with state law and hospital policies, and provide autonomous team-based care as applicable.
- Obtain medical histories, perform physical examinations, review and order diagnostic and therapeutic tests, prescribe chemotherapy, and develop and manage patient treatment plans.
- Educate patients and families about care and available resources, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team on admission instructions, treatment plans, potential side effects, and discharge plans.
- Provide psychosocial support to patients and their family members in a caring, ethical, and professional manner.
- Opportunity to serve as a surgical assistant in the operating room.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program.
- Experience:
- 1-2 years of oncology experience preferred.
- Chemotherapy experience is desirable.
- Active, unrestricted Connecticut medical license or in process of obtaining.
- BLS Certification.
- DEA License.
