Position Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and resourceful Medical Collector with a minimum of 3 years of experience in medical billing and collections. The ideal candidate is dependable, has strong communication skills, and brings an assertive, results-driven approach to collecting outstanding balances.
Responsibilities:
- Research and resolve unpaid claims using monthly aging reports and multiple systems and payer portals.
- Manage assigned accounts and oversee the full collection cycle to reduce aging balances.
- Complete denial management, including appeals, reprocessing, and documentation gathering.
- Contact patients, guarantors, and attorneys regarding balances; educate them on benefits and payment responsibilities.
- Log follow-ups, reminders, and updates accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure proper payment posting and adjustments.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in A/R analysis, medical collections, denial management, and EOB review.
- Knowledge of billing and collection procedures in a high-volume environment.
- Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Proactive, assertive, and motivated to drive collections performance.
- Experience with CPT and ICD-10 coding and familiarity with medical terminology.
- Proficiency with relevant software systems is a plus (WebPT, CMD, QuickBooks).
