Founded in 1981 by Dr. Bery Engebretsen, PHC's mission has always been to deliver healthcare and supportive services to everyone—irrespective of insurance, immigration status, or ability to pay. With locations in Ames, Des Moines, and Marshalltown, we cater to diverse community needs.

As an experienced and visionary medical professional, your role as Chief Medical Executive will be pivotal in overseeing and leading our clinical operations. You will also provide direct care to our patients, collaborating closely with our healthcare teams, including behavioral health and pharmacy, to ensure comprehensive medical oversight. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing clinical policies, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, and enhancing the quality of care delivered.

Furthermore, you will play a vital role in building and maintaining strong relationships with local healthcare providers and community partners. Mentorship of staff and collaboration with the executive team to devise strategies aimed at improving patient outcomes and access to care will also be a part of your responsibilities.

To thrive in this role, you should possess a medical degree from an accredited institution, an active medical license in Iowa, and board certification in a relevant specialty. We are looking for candidates with proven leadership experience in clinical settings, strong clinical expertise, and outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. Most importantly, a deep commitment to serving underserved and vulnerable populations is essential.
