Position Overview

The MPC Partnership Tax Income team is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented tax professional to enhance our team. The ideal candidate for the Senior Partnership Tax Specialist position is proactive and thrives in a fast-paced environment, delivering excellence in tax compliance, reporting, and strategic support. This role includes preparing and reviewing tax filings, assisting with tax accounting processes, staying informed on tax law changes, and collaborating cross-functionally for accurate and timely reporting. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review tax returns, estimates, and extensions, ensuring timely submission to tax authorities, along with relevant calculations and workpapers.
  • Collaborate closely with company personnel in accounting and operations, staying updated on changes, and recommending procedures to minimize tax costs while enhancing compliance.
  • Support quarter-end and year-end tax accounting processes by preparing or reviewing tax workpapers and forecasts.
  • Keep ahead of tax law changes, conducting research and documenting implications for the company’s financial results.
  • Compile requested information for timely responses to auditor inquiries, including those from external auditors and taxing authorities.
  • Assist in preparing documentation for audit protests and tax reserve entries, including participating in discussions with tax officials.
  • Ensure accurate and timely tax return payments to various jurisdictions through SAP, coordinating with return preparation and maintaining general ledger reconciliations.
  • Engage with internal business partners to address questions related to potential tax liabilities and operational changes.
  • Identify opportunities for implementing tax technology solutions, focusing on process improvements and automation.
  • Assist Tax management with special projects, including those that are time-sensitive and confidential in nature.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field; Accounting preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience; preference for candidates with over 5 years supporting large, publicly traded entities.
  • Developing knowledge of tax rules and regulations.
  • Ability to assist in reviewing low to mid-complexity workstreams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across functions, including accounting.
  • Progressive written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining tax matters to non-tax professionals.
