The Engine Technician is responsible for day-to-day sub-assembly tasks supporting engine and component assembly and inspection. The individual will deal with engine teardowns, quality checking, Post dyno inspection, testing and provide high tolerance, high quality parts in a demanding, racing environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist with inspection of engines and components, uncrating and crating of engines for shipment, and precise record keeping.
  • Measure components to close tolerances.
  • Set and verify part clearances to design documents.
  • Verify conformance of parts to stock lists or blueprints using advanced measuring instruments, such as calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
  • Accurate use of measuring equipment and the required hand tools.
  • Assemble systems of components to common engine practices and/or Engineering requests.
  • Communicate with Build Shop Manager or Engineering on technical matters.
  • Crack testing of parts using non-destructive methods.
  • Engine build record keeping with component history data.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Initial training areas would focus on engine crating, component mileage tracking and documentation, and inspection processes.
Required Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of recent hands-on engine related experience.
  • Must have full knowledge of empirical and metric measuring equipment.
  • Experience setting critical engine clearances and tolerances per Engineering specifications.
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft applications.
  • Familiarity with accurate engine record keeping.
  • Time Management.

  • Strong work ethic
Desired Qualifications
  • Vocational Certification or Associates Degree in a related subject such as Automotive Performance, Automotive Technician, or related field would be preferred
  • Experience building motorsport engines
Nuts & Bolts
  • This is a full-time non-exempt position and is eligible for overtime. Pay Range: $20-22/hour
  • Extensive overtime may be required during the racing season, which can climb to 7 days per week during peak seasons
