Walgreens, in collaboration with Florida A&M University College of Pharmacy, is excited to offer an enriching post-graduate residency program for pharmacists. This opportunity is designed to help residents reach their professional goals, develop leadership skills within the pharmacy profession, and contribute to Walgreens' commitment to advancing health care. Graduates of this program will enhance their clinical expertise and skills necessary to provide exceptional patient care in both traditional community and community-based specialty pharmacy settings.

The residency program takes place across selected facilities in Jacksonville, FL, where pharmacists deliver a variety of innovative clinical pharmacy services to patients on complex and chronic therapies. Residents will engage closely with patients and their healthcare providers to ensure optimal drug therapy outcomes. Additionally, the program provides valuable insights into the management challenges affecting patient care services in community pharmacies.

As a resident, you will:

  • Deliver personalized, comprehensive care to patients with complex conditions such as oncology, transplant, inflammatory diseases, and HIV/AIDS.
  • Provide medication education to enhance patient understanding and adherence.
  • Participate in rotations within ambulatory care clinics.
  • Engage in medication therapy management to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Administer immunizations as a certified pharmacist.
  • Conduct patient-centered dispensing activities.
  • Take part in community service initiatives.
  • Develop and present a practice-based residency project at a professional conference.
  • Build essential relationship skills for effective community-based specialty pharmacy practice.
  • Educate providers and payers about specialty pharmacy services to improve care.
  • Create collaborative programs aimed at enhancing patient adherence and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the improvement of existing patient care programs.
  • Complete a teaching certificate program to enrich your educational skills.
  • Serve as a preceptor and instructor for pharmacy students at the pharmacy site and at the college of pharmacy.

External Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited institution.
  • Ability to secure pharmacist licensure in the state of residency within the required timeframe.
  • Submission of residency application materials through the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS).
  • Must adhere to the ASHP Resident Matching Program rules.
  • Certified Immunizer status or willingness to become certified within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications: Qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered for employment.
