Engineering Manager Responsibilities:

1. Plan, direct, or coordinate activities in such fields as electronic data processing, information systems, systems analysis, and computer programming.

2. Be both a highly technical, and an effective people manager.

3. Be a subject matter expert in at least one specific domain.

4. (examples: product, product infrastructure, infrastructure, machine learning).

5. Lead teams that deliver on multiple projects of increasing dependencies in an ambiguous or high-impact area.

6. Work with team and cross functional partners to define and influence strategy.

7. Work on issues requiring an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives.

8. Drive roadmap creation and execution.

9. Collaborate with various functions, drive engineering initiatives and have an impact at an organizational level.

10. Participate in technical design.

11. Measure the impact of team and set clear expectations and goals.

12. Manage activities of two or more sections or departments, supervising costs, methods, and staffing.

13. Work effectively with cross functional partners and stakeholders o set and achieve optimal outcomes.

14. Partner with leadership to influence and drive org design, contribution and prioritization.

15. Telecommuting from anywhere in the US permitted.

Minimum Qualifications:

16. Requires a Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Software, Engineering, Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, or related field and 4 years of work experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation

17. Requires 4 years of experience in the following:

18. 1. Software engineering work experience including hands-on technical management building infrastructure core components
19. 2. Recruiting and managing technical teams, including performance management
20. 3. Architecting, developing, and shipping software products and/or services
21. 4. Management experience with technical teams, or experience as a technical lead or project manager
22. 5. Building products including front end technologies or backend systems
23. 6. Large-scale Internet service architectures (load balancing, LAMP, or CDN's)
24. 7. Designing and developing distributed systems, storage systems, or cache and data distribution infrastructure
25. 8. Scaling high performance, high throughput systems
26. 9. Troubleshooting and diagnosing problems in large-scale systems
27. 10. Coordinating large-scale, cross-functional efforts that span different teams
28. 11. Developing and managing requirements, and making data-driven decisions
29. 12. Leading strategic implementation and planning for risk and growth

Public Compensation:

$261,593/year to $290,180/year + bonus + equity + benefits
