General Maintenance Technician

Primary Function

General Maintenance Technician supports the Facilities team by performing routine building maintenance and minor repairs. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop practical skills in general maintenance, safety procedures, and facilities support.

Essential Functions

• Perform routine housekeeping and facility upkeep duties such as cleaning, organizing storage areas.
• Support maintenance team with moving equipment, furniture, and supplies across locations.
• Operate tools and basic equipment under supervision, including power tools and lifts, once trained.
• Ability to assist in clearing sanitary sewer lines via plunger, drain snakes/augers.
• Transport tools and materials to job sites using company vehicles.
• Follow daily work orders
• Follow preventative maintenance schedules.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools, equipment, and assigned vehicles.
• Assist with setting up and breaking down areas for events or meetings including chairs, podiums, tables, partitions, and equipment.
• Support emergency maintenance tasks as needed.
• Signage installation.
• Replacement of ceiling tiles.
• Read and record meter readings
• Assist higher level mechanics or journeymen in performance of more complex task & performing general maintenance on equipment & machinery.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience necessary; 2 or more years of general labor, handyman, or maintenance experience.
• Willingness to learn safety protocols and maintenance procedures.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Appliance repair experience.
• Utility locate experience.

• Basic mechanical aptitude and desire to grow in the maintenance field.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to communicate clearly using multiple devices.
• Must be punctual, dependable, and team oriented.
• Ability to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments.
• Strong work ethic and ability to take direction with minimal supervision.
