Diabetes Clinician

Summary:
The Diabetes Clinician provides direct patient care in both the outpatient and inpatient settings, and is also involved in non-DTC department staff education. The clinician will have a working knowledge of diabetes care in accordance with American Diabetes Association Standards of Care, including lifestyle modification, medication action, insulin pump therapy, life-stage appropriate care, and diabetes management for hospitalized individuals.
The diabetes clinician is expected to practice autonomously within appropriate scope of practice and Ballad Health policies. The clinician is expected to maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Communicate with providers and other team members as appropriate to support safe and effective patient care.
The clinician will also contribute to team member education, policy and procedure development, and education resource development. Travel via personal vehicle is required for off site patient/team education. The diabetes clinician will also perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Requirements include a degree and active license in related field of pharmacy, registered nurse (including NP and clinical nurse specialist), or registered dietitian with Master's degree preferred.
Minimum 3-5 years clinical experience with emphasis on diabetes management in hospital, home health, or occupational health setting preferred.
CPR certification is required.
The diabetes clinician must have dependable transportation with current personal insurance on any vehicle driven.
Licenses and Certifications:
Current driver's license in state of residence. CPR Required Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) credential must be obtained within 2 years of hire RN must hold valid and active licensure in appropriate state. RD must have current Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) certification. Pharmacist must have valid to practice the profession.
