Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Develop innovative bridge designs and rehabilitation projects for high-profile clients and initiatives, from concept to construction
• Contribute to a supportive and engaging work environment to deliver high-quality projects on schedule, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and attention to detail
• Take ownership of project scopes and budgets, with the goal of successful delivery and client satisfaction
• Preparation of contract bid documents and involvement in construction phase services, playing a key role from concept to completion
• Collaborate with subconsultants
• Mentor entry-level design engineers and drafters, to ensure high-quality client-focused deliverables
• Converse with clients and establish relationships built on trust and reputation

• Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills

• Ability to develop the structural design of engineering and construction projects under the guidance of a Project Manager for varying levels of complexity and scope
• Knowledge of structural design principles for steel, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete for structural components
• Ability to work on multiple projects in a dynamic, team-oriented environment
• Strong communication skills for design team and client interactions

Required Experience

• BS or MS in Civil Engineering from a 4-year accredited university.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in structural design.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Maryland or the ability to obtain reciprocity quickly.
• Experience with AASHTO LRFD bridge design.

Preferred Experience

• MS in Civil Engineering
• Experience working with the Maryland Department of Transportation
• 2 years of experience leading design engineers and drafting personnel

Working Conditions

This position is based primarily within an office setting, offering a comfortable and well-maintained environment. Most work is performed while seated; however, it may require occasional standing and walking. The office is modern, clean, well-lit, and climate-controlled. No hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc., are present in our office environment.
