Optometrist or Ophthalmologist - Veteran Disability Assessments

Join our dedicated team to make a difference for U.S. Veterans We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Optometrist or Ophthalmologist to conduct essential medical assessments as part of the VA's disability benefits process. This is a fulfilling non-treating role where you will perform comprehensive eye examinations to support veterans without the responsibilities of treatment or prescription.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-person disability assessments for U.S. Veterans.
  • Review and analyze electronic medical records through a secure online portal.
  • Perform thorough eye exams, including Visual Field Testing (VFT).
  • Accurately document findings and complete required VA forms.

Note: This position does not involve treatment or medication prescriptions. Disability determinations are made solely by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Position Details:

  • Schedule: Part-Time, 3-4 days/week
  • Location: In-person role
  • Caseload: Average of 4-6 Veterans per day
  • Equipment Provided: Computer and all necessary documentation tools

What We're Looking For:

  • A passionate Optometrist or Ophthalmologist committed to serving veterans.
  • Strong analytical skills for reviewing medical records and assessment data.
  • Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with electronic documentation and web-based platforms.
  • A professional and empathetic approach while interacting with Veterans.

Requirements:

  • Active & unrestricted Optometrist or Ophthalmologist license.
  • Proficient in Visual Field Testing (VFT).
  • Comfortable using technology for record review and documentation.
