Description:
Seeking a Physician Assistant for locum Wound Care coverage.
The coverage is for an outpatient clinic.
Reason for coverage is due to a gap between permanent hires.
The average number of patients per day will be 15-30.
The documentation system in use is Epic.
Required duties include treating skin reactions, preventing skin breakdown, and managing vascular ulcers, pressure ulcers, and diabetic ulcers.
The role involves initiating preventative measures and providing comprehensive wound management.
You will be responsible for applying topical therapies and educating patients and their support systems on care techniques.
Assessment and treatment of draining wounds and fistulae is also part of the role.
You will implement preventative actions to reduce the incidence of pressure and vascular ulcers.
Providing instruction on proper wound dressing and educating on ulcer prevention and treatment is expected.
Supervision of hyperbaric oxygen treatment is required.

Types of wounds treated include:
Acute wounds during inflammatory, proliferative, and remodeling phases.
Surgical wounds intentionally caused by surgeons during an operating procedure.
Traumatic wounds, including severe scrapes, deep puncture wounds, tears, incisions, and burns.
Surgical non-healing wounds, ulcers (arterial, pressure, venous insufficiency, diabetic), chronic venous insufficiency, pilonidal cysts, gangrene, radiation injury, and burns.

Treatments used will encompass bioengineered skin, debridement, hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), incision and drainage, negative pressure-assisted wound closure, post-surgical incision management, skin grafting, Unna Boot, and total contact casting.

Estimated credentialing timeframe indicates potential for temporary privileging.
