Are you an ambitious and experienced Data Engineer who thrives on foundational design, strategic ownership, and impacting a mission-driven organization? This is a brand-new, greenfield position where you will be instrumental in establishing Mosaic's entire data infrastructure and pipelines from the ground up.

This critical role reports to the Vice President of Enterprise Architecture and is responsible for creating a reliable, scalable, and high-quality data foundation that enables data-driven decision-making, advanced analytics, and business intelligence across the company.

?️ Core Responsibilities: Foundational Impact

  • Pioneer Data Pipelines: Design, construct, test, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines (ETL/ELT), defining the standards for data ingestion and processing across the enterprise.

  • Architect the Data Stores: Develop and manage data warehouse and data lake solutions, establishing the core storage and organization framework for all analysis.

  • Establish Governance: Implement and enforce data management and data governance processes from scratch to ensure data quality, security, and integrity company-wide.

  • Optimize & Integrate: Optimize data retrieval and develop algorithms and scripts for complex data processing tasks.

  • Data Democratization: Contribute to the democratization of data by creating foundational tools and providing support for data users across the business.

  • Strategic Collaboration: Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand their data requirements.

? Technical Expertise & Experience

We are seeking a highly independent engineer with a proven track record of building and maintaining data systems.

Top 5 Must-Have Skills:

  • Expert proficiency in SQL and experience with relational and non-relational databases.

  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or Scala .

  • Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms and services (GCP and Google Big Query experience is highly preferred).

  • Knowledge of big data technologies (e.g., Apache Spark, Hadoop, Kafka).

  • Sound understanding of data modeling, data architecture, and data governance principles.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a data engineering role.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or experience in lieu of degree.

  • Familiarity with the Agile SDLC and HIPAA compliance as it relates to data handling.
