San Francisco, CA, United States DeepMind Full time

The Growth & Discovery Team is on a mission to drive extensive user and revenue expansion for Gemini, catering to a diverse range of audiences including consumers, businesses, and developers. This dynamic team is responsible for managing the complete user lifecycle, which encompasses Acquisition (attracting users), Activation (helping them realize the value of the product quickly), Retention (ensuring ongoing engagement through feature discovery and valuable use cases), and Expansion/Monetization (turning engaged users into subscribers). We achieve our goals through a mix of in-product funnel optimization, global performance marketing, disciplined experimentation supported by advanced platforms, and the exploration of innovative growth strategies, such as Viral Sharing and Emerging Markets. Ultimately, we aim to establish foundational systems and infrastructure that enable scalable, efficient, and AI-driven growth across the entire Gemini ecosystem.

At Google DeepMind, we believe in the profound potential of Artificial Intelligence to make a positive impact on society. Our team, comprised of scientists, engineers, and machine learning specialists, collaborates to push the boundaries of AI while prioritizing safety and ethics in all our endeavors.

The Role

The Product Manager for Acquisition at Gemini will define and spearhead the global product strategy focused on acquiring, onboarding, and converting new users into high-value, long-term customers for the Gemini platform. This role requires collaboration across product development, growth marketing, and data science, as you will oversee the entire top-of-funnel experience from initial engagement channels (e.g., paid media, SEO) to in-product activation journeys. Your strategic emphasis will be on building scalable, AI-native acquisition tools, managing complex funnel optimizations, and conducting in-depth cohort and LTV analyses to facilitate efficient, sustainable, and accelerated growth in global markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and Own the Acquisition Product Strategy: Set the vision, establish roadmaps, and determine OKRs for the top-of-funnel platform, ensuring it aligns with Gemini's broader user growth and monetization goals.
  • Lead AI-Native Acquisition Tooling: Collaborate with Engineering and Data Science to design, develop, and continually enhance automation and optimization algorithms for creative operations, bidding, and campaign management across all performance marketing channels.
  • Oversee Full-Funnel Optimization: Manage the complete acquisition process from traffic sources (search, social) to in-product sign-up and activation flows, focusing on maximizing conversion efficiency.
  • Establish Advanced Measurement and Attribution: Create and refine data architecture and attribution models to accurately gauge the effects of product changes and marketing investments on critical metrics like CAC, LTV, and retention.
  • Drive a Culture of Rapid Experimentation: Advocate for a rigorous A/B testing framework by defining clear hypotheses, establishing measurement plans, and translating insights into scalable, documented playbooks.
  • Manage Financial Strategy and Tradeoffs: Work closely with Finance and Business Intelligence to provide acquisition insights for forecasting, budgeting, investment pacing, and striking a balance between growth targets and efficiency.
  • Develop AI-First Creative Systems: Partner with Design and Marketing to create fast, scalable creative prototyping systems powered by generative AI to quickly test and iterate on high-performing ad assets and messaging.
  • Identify and Validate Whitespace Growth: Use market data, competitive intelligence, and user research to pinpoint new audience segments and regional opportunities, leading efforts to expand coverage and localization.
  • Integrate SEO Strategy into Product: Design and implement a vision for optimizing organic acquisition, ensuring the Gemini product structure and content rank effectively in third-party search engines.
  • Lead and Mentor a High-Performing Team: Recruit, nurture, and guide a growing team of product managers and specialists, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making, ownership, and excellence across functions.

About You

To succeed as a Growth & Discovery Product Manager for Gemini App at DeepMind, we seek candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Consumer Growth Leadership: 7+ years of Product Management experience with a proven record of delivering highly successful consumer products and driving key growth metrics (Acquisition, Retention, Monetization).
  • Strategic Accountability: Significant experience in establishing product and business strategies, gaining executive support, defining resource needs, and being fully accountable for outcomes on a global level.
  • Founder Mindset & Action Bias: You approach challenges with a startup mentality, demonstrating decisiveness, simplicity in problem-solving, and a proactive attitude towards hands-on solutions.
  • Customer Obsession & Simplicity: A profound focus on understanding customer needs and the ability to simplify complex technical challenges into delightful user experiences.

  • High-Bar Influence: A consistent drive for excellence in your contributions and your team's, along with strong leadership and communication skills to align stakeholders and cross-functional teams effectively.
