About Our Assets Protection Team

Our Assets Protection (AP) teams are essential in keeping our guests, team, and brand secure, even during crisis situations. We focus on mitigating risks, preventing theft, and protecting our products to ensure they are always available for guests. Building relationships with store leaders, public safety officials, and law enforcement is a crucial part of our mission.

As a Security Operations Specialist, you will gain:

  • Expertise in using intelligence-based strategies to enhance safety for team members and guests
  • Experience in crisis management and crowd control to support our community
  • Skills in de-escalation and the use of physical security measures
  • Proficiency with Target's video surveillance systems
  • Experience in documenting incidents accurately through our case management systems

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities

No two days are the same, but your role may involve:

  • Creating a welcoming environment by greeting guests at the store entrance
  • Upholding a culture of safety and security throughout the store and its exterior
  • Responding to security incidents swiftly and documenting them properly
  • Addressing guest concerns to maintain a secure atmosphere for everyone
  • Utilizing de-escalation tactics effectively during security incidents
  • Assisting in the recovery of stolen merchandise in compliance with AP policies
  • Performing merchandise receipt checks to prevent theft and recognizing trends
  • Submitting required documentation in the case management system following AP procedures
  • Understanding and effectively using Target's surveillance technology
  • Promoting ethical conduct, safety, and compliance at all times
  • Working in a safe manner and reporting hazards
  • Handling additional duties as needed

Qualifications We Are Looking For:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Meeting any local licensure or legal requirements for the position
  • A welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members
  • Ability to communicate using various communication devices and operate technology as needed
  • Strong communication skills
  • Capability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Effective task management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to focus and remain composed in a fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements:

  • Climbing up and down ladders
  • Apprehending individuals following company guidelines
  • Efficiently handling and moving merchandise, including lifting up to 40 pounds
  • Maintaining a flexible schedule with reliable attendance
  • Working in varying temperatures and conditions as needed
  • Remaining mobile throughout your shift
