Pediatric Rehabilitation Specialist - $6k Sign-On Bonus

As a Pediatric Rehabilitation Specialist, you will assess and treat children facing physical disabilities or challenges that affect their movement and motor skills. You will work in various environments, including hospitals, private practices, schools, and rehabilitation centers, to help children reach their full physical potential through specialized therapies, exercises, and interventions.
Experience:
- Experience working with children, from infants to adolescents.
- Familiarity with childhood developmental milestones and treatment for a variety of physical challenges (e.g., cerebral palsy, spina bifida, Down syndrome, orthopedic injuries).
- Background in treating pediatric patients with severe disabilities and complex medical conditions.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree, Master's, or Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
- Valid New York State license to practice physical therapy, must maintain good standing.
- Valid NPI Number.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough assessments of children's physical abilities, including mobility, strength, flexibility, and balance.
- Observe and identify motor skills development and any physical limitations or delays.
- Review medical history and collaborate with healthcare professionals for comprehensive treatment.
- Develop personalized therapy plans tailored to each child's unique needs and goals.
- Create strategies aimed at enhancing physical movement and motor function.
- Set measurable goals and track the child's progress over time.
- Adapt therapy techniques based on the child's evolving conditions and progress.
- Educate parents and caregivers on supporting therapy at home and improving the home environment for better outcomes.
- Utilize a range of techniques, such as exercises, stretches, and coordination activities, to address mobility challenges.
- Employ specialized equipment when necessary to aid therapy.
- Implement manual therapy techniques for muscle function and flexibility improvement.
- Focus on building motor planning, muscle strength, and gross motor skills as needed based on diagnosis.
- Work collaboratively with families and other healthcare professionals to align treatment plans.
- Maintain precise records of assessments, progress, and treatment methods.
- Assist parents in understanding child development and provide exercise guidelines for home use.
- Maintain open communication with families regarding progress, obstacles, and goals.
- Deliver information about the child's condition, treatment plan, and anticipated outcomes.
- Instruct caregivers on exercises and activities for continuation at home.
- Guide children on techniques to improve movement, posture, and daily activities.
- Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and make necessary modifications to therapy plans.
- Ensure comprehensive and accurate documentation of all evaluations, plans, and progress.
- Adhere to all legal and regulatory standards in record-keeping.
