Position Overview:

Are you a seasoned Full Stack Software Engineer/Architect eager to take on significant challenges in a dynamic remote setting? In this influential position, you will take ownership of mission-critical projects that span customer-facing applications to backend systems and large-scale data workflows. Your collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential to designing scalable solutions, guiding engineering execution, and ensuring best practices across our technology stack.

You will be responsible for:

  • Designing and developing robust GraphQL and REST APIs along with scalable backend services for internal and external users.
  • Taking technical ownership of features across product and data domains.
  • Leading projects involving full-stack web development, systems architecture, and data integration.
  • Creating data pipelines and ETL processes for transforming and delivering structured and semi-structured data.
  • Building and integrating internal tools for data stewardship, quality assurance, and operational workflows.
  • Enhancing data-driven features in existing applications, collaborating closely with stakeholders to embed insights into product experiences.
  • Formulating technical solutions that support large-scale application growth and maintainability.
  • Providing technical leadership on complex engineering initiatives spanning multiple teams and systems.
  • Evaluating and integrating new technologies to tackle business and platform challenges.
  • Collaborating with Product and Data teams to translate business needs into scalable engineering solutions.
  • Promoting engineering excellence through code quality, performance tuning, best testing practices, and comprehensive architecture documentation.

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

Technical Skills:

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on full-stack and backend development.
  • Expertise in React, TypeScript, and Node.js.
  • Proven experience in designing, building, and scaling production APIs (GraphQL and REST) with a strong background in data modeling, ideally using PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with modern monorepo setups and modular architectures.
  • Comfortable in building, supporting, and integrating production-grade ETL/data pipelines.
  • Ability to build data processing and integration logic in custom applications using languages like Node.js, Python, or SQL, with a strong focus on performance and maintainability.
  • Familiarity with modern data tools such as AWS Glue, Snowflake, Apache Airflow, or Databricks.
  • Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), CI/CD workflows, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Proficiency in test-driven development (TDD) and automated testing frameworks.
  • Thorough understanding of software architecture principles (SOLID, DDD, DRY).
  • Experience with both greenfield and legacy systems.

Business Skills:

  • Versatile and capable of leading projects across application and data-focused initiatives.
  • Proficient in navigating ambiguity and taking ownership of project delivery from problem framing to execution.
  • Strong communication skills, able to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Past experience mentoring engineers and contributing positively to engineering culture.
  • Experience in fast-paced startup or scaling environments.
  • Proactive in identifying architectural and systematic improvements.
  • Prior experience in healthcare, life sciences, or other regulated data environments is a plus.

Bonus Skills:

  • Experience in building or supporting admin tools and internal platforms.
  • Familiarity with data observability, schema governance, or data lineage tools.
  • Exposure to machine learning pipelines, business intelligence tools, or product instrumentation.
  • Familiar with mobile development frameworks such as React Native or Capacitor.
