Locum Tenens Opportunity: Gastroenterologist Near Portland, ME We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Gastroenterologist for a locum tenens position near Portland, ME. This is an immediate opening, offering a unique opportunity to join a well-established team providing essential gastroenterology services. This position requires a Board Certified Gastroenterologist to step in and help maintain the high standard of care while the team searches for a permanent physician. The role is flexible, with a combination of outpatient and hospital-based practice, ideal for those looking to make a meaningful impact in a scenic coastal area. Position Overview: Profession: Physician Specialty: Gastroenterology Start Date: ASAP End Date: Ongoing, with an initial commitment of 3 to 6 months, potentially longer depending on the hiring of a permanent physician Coverage Type: Hourly, with a balanced schedule of clinical and administrative duties Shift Details: Shift Type: Days Schedule: 4 days of patient care, 1 administrative/office day per week Call Schedule: Every third day and 1:4 weekends Clinical Focus: Practice Setting: Combination of outpatient clinic and hospital-based practice Duties: Provide comprehensive gastroenterology care in both office/clinic and hospital settings Call Schedule: Active call every third day and one weekend out of four Support Staff: Collaborative team environment with 2 other physicians EMR System: Epic Requirements: Board Certification: Must be Board Certified in Gastroenterology State License: Must hold an active Maine license Certifications: ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) BLS (Basic Life Support) Estimated Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 90 days Location & Community: Setting: Near Portland, ME, a vibrant community offering a mix of urban amenities and natural beauty Environment: The area is known for its stunning coastal landscapes, outdoor recreational opportunities, and rich cultural scene Community: Enjoy the benefits of a small-town atmosphere with big-city amenities, including top-tier restaurants, arts, and a close-knit medical community This locum tenens opportunity is ideal for a Gastroenterologist seeking a dynamic role with a mix of clinical and administrative duties.
