Position Summary:

As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance on medium to heavy-duty trucks, trailers, reefer units, and converter dollies while ensuring compliance with all State and Federal trucking regulations. You will interact professionally with co-workers, ensuring timely and accurate communication. Documenting repairs and keeping work orders current is essential, along with performing road call services as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and perform minor repairs and inspections on fleet diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, refrigeration units) while identifying root causes of failures for appropriate repairs.
  • Ensure all equipment has the required licensing and registration prior to being roadworthy.
  • Document all repairs and preventative maintenance in our online Enterprise Asset Management system.
  • Install, replace, and repair onboard computers as needed.
  • Inspect critical systems such as brakes, steering mechanisms, and wheel bearings to maintain proper operating conditions.
  • Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication using both hand tools and power tools.
  • Take on additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Education: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience

Required Experience: At least 2 years of experience in medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair, including preventative maintenance, tire & wheel repair, air & air disc brakes, diagnosis, computerized diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronic component repair, and A/C refrigeration.
