Title: Facilities Technician

Salary: $45,000

Position Overview:

The Facilities Technician plays a key role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and appearance of our buildings. This position supports multiple sites and works closely with Facility leadership and Building Managers to complete a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building upkeep. The Facilities Technician ensures all work is performed in compliance with safety standards and regulatory guidelines, while responding to both scheduled and emergency needs. This hands-on role requires strong technical skills, adaptability, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards across our facilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities.

  • Knowledge of various maintenance/repair procedures from start up to finished product.

  • Under direction of Facility Director will be dispatched to multiple locations to work closely with Building managers in any assigned repairs as necessary.

  • Facilitate work order repairs ranging from minor to moderate plumbing, electrical and carpentry repairs. assembly of office furniture, window balance replacement, electrical ballast replacement, sheetrock repairs.

  • Conduct visual inspections to ensure monthly maintenance has occurred on building systems.

  • Locksmith duties, installing various locks, mortise, single handled and dead bolt locks as needed.

  • Safety Adherence/Maintain facility standards and procedures.

  • Ensure quality standards by following procedures, including work assessment, preparation, and clean up.

  • Maintain compliance with DOHMH and Osha guidelines for cleanliness and safety protocols throughout the facility.

  • Assist in unit turnovers, painting, and wall repairs when assigned by Facility department leadership.

  • Available to respond to after hour emergency when required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent credentials are required.

  • A minimum of two years of building maintenance experience.

  • Proficiency in English required; proficiency in a second language preferred.

  • Valid driver’s license from the state in which the bearer resides preferred, with less than three (3) points acquired in the last three (3) years

  • Strong maintenance skills.

  • Ability to pass a physical skills test.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to work with multiple agency personnel.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to climb and stand on a 15-foot ladder.

  • Ability to lift, pull, push and/or move a minimum of 60 pounds.

  • Ability to stand, walk, crouch or sit for long periods of time.

  • Ability to climb five flights of stairs.

  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects.

  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.

  • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather.
