Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Data Governance Specialist to join their team onsite at Sprint Field, Missouri. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data quality, governance, and analytics, with strong technical proficiency and hands-on experience in cloud data platforms. This role focuses on ensuring data consistency, accuracy, and visibility across business-critical datasets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Quality Execution: Design, develop, and maintain data quality checks and rules (e.g., using dbt) on Snowflake to identify and resolve inconsistencies in key datasets.
  • Metric Analysis Support: Conduct detailed data analysis to support formal definition, rationalization, and documentation of consistent KPIs and metrics across business units.
  • Data Quality Reporting: Create, maintain, and present dashboards and reports to expand visibility into data health and reconciliation status for business users.
  • Discrepancy Resolution: Collaborate with Data Engineering and business data stewards to investigate and resolve data mismatches, especially during migrations from legacy systems (e.g., IER AS400).
  • Governance Documentation: Assist in documenting and communicating data governance policies, standards, and data lineage to promote data accuracy and trust.
  • Tool Utilization: Act as a hands-on user of data catalog tools (Alation) and BI tools (Domo) to catalog reports, trace metric lineage, and enforce adherence to enterprise definitions.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in data quality, data governance, or data analytics roles.
  • Proven technical proficiency in SQL and experience with cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake).
  • Direct experience implementing/supporting data quality tests using dbt.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes of data inconsistencies.
  • Experience creating dashboards and reports for business consumption.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills for working with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Familiarity with metric standardization concepts and decentralized reporting.
  • Good exposure to data governance, data quality practices, and Alation (or similar tools). Domo experience is a plus.
