Position Specifics:

  • Position located onsite at Saukville, WI.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and continuously enhance the Safety Management System across the division.
  • Direct the Safety Learning Strategy implementation throughout the division.
  • Oversee and manage Safety in Design and Construction Safety Projects across the site.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to devise strategic safety improvement plans that achieve desired safety outcomes and meet established targets.
  • Develop and disseminate safety programs for all business plants, ensuring safety compliance and identifying necessary corrective actions.
  • Advise and inform management on organizational safety objectives.
  • Conduct annual audits to assess performance against established policies, processes, and regulations.
  • Coordinate audits with external partners, such as insurance carriers.
  • Lead the development of the Safety team and create professional growth plans.
  • Ensure a safe working environment for all employees across Charter business-specific sites.
  • Manage accident investigations and corrective actions, along with housekeeping and safety auditing processes.
  • Support safety teams by utilizing their operational knowledge to drive improvements.
  • Assist teams in identifying root causes of accidents and developing action plans to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Oversee the Workers' Compensation and return-to-work programs.
  • Prioritize safety resources, including capital, across Charter business-specific sites.
  • Maintain and oversee safety records, including OSHA logs and compliance documentation.
  • Develop direct reports, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field.
  • Seven-plus years of progressive safety experience, including at least four years at the plant level with prior supervisory experience.
  • Experience in Workers' Compensation Insurance.
  • A strong background in team environments and coordination of safety initiatives.
  • Proven practical experience in safety process improvement and compliance with regulations.
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies at local, state, and federal levels.
  • Ability to interpret and apply OSHA regulations effectively.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated partnership skills with operational groups to attain strategic safety goals.
  • Strong personal initiative and leadership capabilities.
  • Solid organizational abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office software products.

Nice to Have:

  • Master's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field.
  • One or more safety certifications such as PE, CHMM, CSP, or CIH.
  • Training in total quality management and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • A background in environmental health.
  • EMT/First Responder certification.
