Job Summary

This role is essential in providing high-quality respiratory therapy to patients in acute and critical care settings, following physician's orders and departmental protocols. The position requires a dedicated professional who can work independently and consult with interdisciplinary teams to recommend optimal treatment plans for patients across all age groups, including infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

For eligible full-time positions, we offer various sign-on bonuses, including $7,500 for Direct Care Respiratory Therapists with one year of experience and $5,000 for those with less than one year. Accountabilities

• Perform respiratory therapy procedures independently according to physician orders and departmental policies - 20%
• Collect, analyze, and report blood gas results accurately - 10%
• Initiate, monitor, and manage various mechanical ventilation methods - 20%
• Manage all types of airways and associated equipment - 10%
• Document and charge for all procedures accurately, providing patient and family education as necessary - 10%
• Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, including students and nurses, providing comprehensive reports and recommendations - 10%
• Adhere to infection control and quality initiatives; ensure proper cleaning and sterilization of equipment - 10%
• Utilize hospital resources effectively, managing supplies and productivity - 10%

Supervisory/Management Responsibility

This is a non-management position reporting to a supervisor, manager, or director.

Minimum Requirements

Graduate from an accredited school for Respiratory Therapy or eligible for licensure in the state of South Carolina. Senior students graduating in the next three months are encouraged to apply.

Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses

License as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in South Carolina or eligibility for licensure. BLS certification is required. NBRC credentials must be maintained. Note that employees hired prior to June 2016 could be Certified Respiratory Therapists. Applicants hired from June 2016 onward must pass the Therapist Multiple Choice Exam and take the Clinical Simulation Exam within six months of graduation; failing to do so will result in termination.

NRP and PALS certification is required in the Children's Hospital before independent work in NICU and PICU.
