Job Description

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is seeking a Principal Software Developer to join our Networking organization, focusing on DDoS and Network Security. In this strategic role, you will help architect, build, and enhance solutions to safeguard the reliability and availability of OCI's global cloud services. The ideal candidate excels at collaborating across teams, driving technical direction, and delivering large-scale, robust software systems in a cloud environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of distributed systems that enhance the security and resiliency of OCI's networking services.

  • Drive the development of L4 and L7 protection services-including DDoS mitigation and Web Application Firewall (WAF)-to protect against a wide array of network and application-layer threats.

  • Analyze trends in network architecture and the threat landscape to inform system design and enhancements.

  • Drive improvements in system scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.

  • Collaborate with partners across product, security, operations, and engineering to deliver high-visibility solutions.

  • Define, document, and share architectural approaches, technical best practices, and operational processes.

  • Provide mentorship to engineers and help elevate technical standards across the organization.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, quality, and continuous improvement across all aspects of the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Significant experience (typically 8+ years) in building, scaling, and operating distributed systems or cloud infrastructure.

  • Working knowledge of network technologies or security principles, with an interest in advancing expertise.

  • Strong programming skills in one or more major languages (such as Go, Java, C++, Python), especially in the context of systems engineering.

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, drive complex technical initiatives, and collaborate effectively across teams.

  • Demonstrated experience producing high-quality designs and technical documentation.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing security, networking, or large-scale cloud solutions.

  • Familiarity with automation, monitoring, and operational tooling for highly available services.

  • Experience with open source technologies or community contributions.

  • Demonstrated contributions to the technology field (e.g., publications, open source, patents).

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

  8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
