If you have a desire to help families in need, in an autonomous setting, while be part of a great mental health treatment team, then this position may be for you. Southwest Behavioral Health Center has an opening for a Stabilization and Mobile Response (SMR) Therapist. We are looking for a master's level mental health therapist to facilitates an 8-week treatment plan to stabilize families who have called 988 in crisis or as a referral from some other crisis entity. A typical SMR intervention would start with a de-escalation of an immediate crisis by the MCOT team. Then the SMR Therapist and Case Manager would conduct an initial assessment to determine what would assist the family in stabilizing after a crisis call. The SMR Therapist would develop an 8-week intervention plan that is implemented by the Therapist and Case Manager(s). After the 8-week intervention, the Therapist will determine if the client would benefit from longer term treatment and make the appropriate referral. This service is provided in the five counties of Iron, Washington, Beaver, Garfield, and Kane.

An SMR Therapist should have an understanding of family theory and treatment to proficiently assess a family therapeutic and service needs. The SMR Therapist should be skillful in providing the needed therapy along with instructing SMR Case Manager(s) on providing their level of service. The SMR Therapist will need a current Utah Driver's License and be willing to travel to the family's home for services in all five counties.

GENERAL PURPOSE

Performs a variety of professional clinical and outpatient psychotherapy duties related to providing mental health/substance abuse program services to individuals, groups, and families. May also conduct educational services to individuals, groups, or organizations.

SUPERVISION/TRAINING RECEIVED

Works under the direct supervision/support of the St. George Youth Program Manager. Also receives support, training, and guidance from Utah Department of Health and Human Services Crisis Administrator. Training provided will include crisis worker certification training, crisis response plan training, crisis scenarios, and many others.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

May provide clinical supervision to entry level Counselor and Counselor graduate students during assigned or orientation periods.

4. Completes evaluations, risk assessments, and safety plans within a brief period of time to determine treatment needs and makes recommendations for services. Accurately assigns and records diagnoses.

5. Coordinates care with other SBHC departments and community partners based on the needs of the client and HIPPA laws.

6 Prepares lessons according to program requirements for implementation during therapy. Frequently coordinate and communicate with your assigned team, including case managers and support staff, regarding lessons or activities needed for client care.

7. Manages work time effectively by prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment to ensure clients' needs, staff support, clinical duties and agency demands are met.

8. Assist clients in achieving their goals and objectives to restore them to the highest possible level of functioning and promote their self-sufficiency; systematically reduce the client's reliance on mental health support systems.

9 Meets target productivity standards.

10. Establishes and maintains open communications with all team members and supports teams' decisions. Communicates with other staff and supervisor to assure accurate recording of client information in the electronic record system.

11. When requested, provides training and consultation services to individuals, groups, families, and organizations.

12. Completes all necessary paperwork/documentation of services rendered including risk and suicide assessments, safety plans, and any other required documentation in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner according to Center mandates.

13. Attends and actively participates in all assigned meetings, such as staff meetings, team meetings, peer reviews, committee and community meetings.

14. Works to build and maintain knowledge of community resources.

15. Completes all required training, including E-learning assignments within assigned timeframes. Maintains clinical license and CEU requirements.

16. Assists in the monthly data collection for state reporting requirements.

17. Returns phone calls, emails and other correspondence with clients, coworkers, supervisors and others in a timely and professional way.

18. Coordinates with supervisor regarding issues and problems that interfere with assignments, goals, treatment plans, and projects. Implements, to fidelity, those evidenced-based practices designated by the Center and the supervisor.

19. Performs related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

1. Graduation from a college or university with a Master's Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Counseling, or Professional Counseling. Preference given to those with knowledge of family systems.

2. Experience working in a crisis setting preferred.

License and Certifications:

1. License Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), or Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CMHC), in the State of Utah.

OR

2. Under-licensed as a CSW, MFT Associate, CMHC Associate and will obtain full licensure within two (2) years of hire.

AND

3. A valid motor vehicle driver's license (equivalent to State of Utah Class D)

4. Able to pass a background check (BCI)

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

A. A thorough knowledge and application of

  • diagnostic classifications in DSM-IV;
  • psychotherapy and counseling processes, techniques, and methods.
  • Outcome informed treatment
B. A working knowledge of
  • substance abuse or mental health treatment philosophy and treatment modalities
  • mental health and substance abuse programs
  • case management services
  • community and regional resources available to clients
  • appropriate referral procedures for obtaining these services
  • treatment involving psychotropic medications
  • the application of evidenced-based practices, such as:
a. Motivational Interviewing

b. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

c. Dialectical Behavior Therapy

d. Client Centered Treatment Planning

C. Ability to
  • Be flexible with work schedule that include evening hours
  • learn and follow new, proven treatment protocols
  • develop effective professional working relationships with executives, supervisors, co-workers, clients, other professionals, and the public
  • instruct or supervise a professional staff
  • effectively communicate verbally and in writing
D. Skilled in
  • establishing priorities, working independently and proceeding with objectives without direct supervision when appropriate
  • creatively handling and resolving problems
  • time management practices encompassing all job duties, such as scheduled appointments, meeting obligations and paperwork
  • conflict resolution

E. Must be proficient in using computers, software and have keyboarding skills in order to enter and retrieve client's electronic records. General knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft office software are preferred.

Special Qualifications:

A. Complete agency trainings as required

B. CPR and First Aid Certification (within 30 days and upon expiration)

C. Certification in AEGIS/Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (within 30 days & annually thereafter)

D. Physically able to lift up to 40 lbs., climb stairs, transport clients, etc.
