Position Overview:

We are looking for talented Freelance Stenographic Court Reporters to accurately capture and document legal proceedings such as depositions, arbitrations, and administrative hearings. This position requires high precision and the capability to produce fully verbatim transcripts in ASCII and/or RTF format tailored to our clients' specifications.

Location: Washington DC

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize advanced stenographic techniques to produce complete and accurate transcripts of legal proceedings.
  • Ensure finalized transcripts adhere to high standards of accuracy and formatting, delivered in ASCII and/or RTF format as per client templates and style guidelines.
  • Organize and manage notes diligently, maintaining professionalism and handling sensitive information securely.
  • Provide backup audio recordings to the court reporting agency for additional security.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience as a stenographic court reporter, ideally covering depositions, arbitrations, and administrative hearings.
  • Proficient in real-time transcription with appropriate equipment and software for real-time text display.
  • Strong understanding of legal terminology, courtroom procedures, and confidentiality norms.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and adaptability to meet varying client demands and tight deadlines.
  • Possess reliable transportation and availability for in-person assignments within the Washington, D.C. metro area.
  • Proficient in CAT software and skilled in maintaining dictionaries for real-time output.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NCRA Certification or equivalent in stenographic court reporting.

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Ability to offer real-time transcription services, providing immediate text access for attorneys and legal professionals during proceedings.
  • Equip real-time transcription technology and software for seamless text display.
