Description

The Office of Child Support Services ("CSS"), an office within the Office of the Attorney General, providesassistance to parents and custodians with minor children seeking financial support from another parent.

CSS is looking for a detail oriented and highly organized Budget Specialist I to join their team to providefinancial and analytical support to the Office of Administrative Services within the CSS Department.

Budget Specialist I will be responsible for:

  • Performing professional accounting duties for the Child Support Services Department.
  • Analyzing cash receipts, expenditures, allotment balances and other financial elements submitted bycontracting officials and other vendors for compliance with budget, contract terms and federal and state lawsand regulations; and uses the eMARS reporting system.
  • Processing revenue related documents related to Child Support Services.
  • Providing technical advice and assists in designing, testing and revising systems of internal control.
  • Evaluates and monitors Child Support Services Department's invoice processing for compliance.
  • Maintaining documentation for all transactions in accordance with office processes.
Ideal candidates will possess the following:
  • Experience with statistical analysis, accounting and auditing
  • Experience with eMARS and MIP (Monthly Invoice Portal) system
  • Experience with billing processes and matters related to projects and, or, grants
  • Customer Service Experience
  • Microsoft Office Experience
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Ability to work in an office setting and within deadlines
  • Critical thinking skills with the aptitude to analyze data
  • Capable of adapting to ever-changing needs of the Department and Division.


Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION:Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Two years of professional experience in statistical or policy analysis, accounting, auditing, planning, or a related field.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:NONE

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:Professional experience in statistical or policy analysis, accounting, auditing, planning. or a related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):NONE

Incumbents working in this job title perform duties in an office setting.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
