POSITION SUMMARY: As a Clinical Nurse Educator, you will provide clinical expertise, education, consultation, leadership, and research to enhance patient care, staff development, and organizational efficiency. You will work collaboratively to ensure compliance with regulations and improve systems within ECHN.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse license in Connecticut. A BSN from an accredited University is required; a Master’s Degree in Nursing is preferred. Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support is mandatory upon hire or within the introductory orientation period. ACLS certification and specialty certification are preferred.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in clinical practice, nursing education, and/or nursing management in an acute care setting is required.
COMPETENCIES: Strong leadership skills, attention to detail, excellent communication, ability to maintain confidentiality, and clinical competency are essential.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: While this list is not exhaustive, it outlines key responsibilities:
- Provide educational leadership to enhance specialized patient care within medical-surgical units.
- Assess and monitor the quality of care for specific patient populations.
- Create an environment of nursing excellence that promotes high-quality care.
- Coordinate and implement nursing staff orientation programs tailored to individual needs.
- Collaborate with medical providers and unit management to design and deliver educational curricula.
- Monitor compliance with quality standards and implement effective educational strategies.
- Utilize advanced judgment and expert skills to identify and address issues affecting patient care.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop standards of care and quality improvement plans.
- Act as a key resource in clinical practice, mentoring staff and providing education to nurses and students.
- Interpret and apply research findings to advance practice and patient care delivery.
