Overview

The Early Childhood Ministry Director will play a vital role in leading and growing Illuminate's Kids from Birth through Pre-K. This role ensures that every child is welcomed into a safe, clean, engaging, and Christ-centered environment, while also supporting and developing the Dream Team who serves these families. The Early Childhood Director partners closely with the Next Gen team to maintain alignment, excellence, and clear communication with a focus of bridging the Next Gen Ministries together. This is a part-time role with intentional leadership development, mentorship, and accountability.

Primary Responsibilities

Early Childhood Ministry Oversight

Oversee all Early Childhood services and weekly operations for Babies, Toddlers, and Pre-K environments.

Ensure all rooms are clean, organized, stocked, and ready for weekend services.

Select, prepare, and maintain curriculum for each Early Childhood age group.

Order, track, and manage supplies for Birth-PreK environments.

Maintain the Early Childhood Family Queue and follow through on all parent needs and requests.

Dream Team Leadership & Care

Lead and develop Dream Team members serving in Early Childhood, creating a culture of care and appreciation, and spiritual growth.

Oversee scheduling, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of Early Childhood volunteers.

Provide input and support for Support Teams such as Coordinators and Check-In as needed.

Assist with Dream Team seasonal appreciation events and gatherings for Kids Ministry.

Parent Partnership & Communication

Maintain consistent communication with parents through email, text, calls, and face-to-face interaction.

Follow up with First Time Guests and provide ongoing engagement opportunities.

Handle incident reports, parent concerns, and feedback in a timely and pastoral manner.

Support parents with discipleship resources and guidance as part of partnering with families.

Kids Events & Ministry Support

Assist in planning and leading Kids Ministry events throughout the year.

Collaborate with Next Gen staff and Dream Team to support event logistics, communication, and execution.

Contribute to a unified discipleship pathway from Birth through Young Adults by participating in cross-ministry planning.

Leadership & Ministry Development

Participate in monthly one-on-one meetings with ministry oversight for direction, support, and leadership growth.

Submit weekly 15Five check-ins to reflect on progress, health, challenges, and development areas.

Uphold and enforce all Kids Ministry safety and security policies, including check-in/out, bathroom protocols, incident reporting, and emergency procedures.

Qualifications

Active and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

Heart for children and desire to partner with families in discipleship.

Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Experience in children's ministry, education, or volunteer leadership preferred.

Ability to lead teams with care, clarity, and consistency.

Alignment with Illuminate Church's mission, culture values, and Kids Ministry safety standards.
