Senior Accountant

CBIZ Talent Solutions is seeking a well-rounded Staff Accountant with a strong understanding of real estate accounting for our NYC client. This position is ideal for a candidate with 3 years of experience, preferably from a public accounting background, who is looking to transition into a dynamic real estate environment. The senior accountant will review financial statements, funds, and oversee the work of third-party property management firms and fund administrators.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and analyze financial statements for various real estate funds and properties.
  • Collaborate with and oversee the accounting work performed by third-party property management firms and fund administrators, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist with fund accounting, including reconciliations, reporting, and analysis of investment performance.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Maintain organized documentation and ensure adherence to internal controls and best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners to address questions or resolve discrepancies.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CPA in progress is a plus.
  • 3 years of relevant accounting experience; public accounting background highly preferred.
  • Understanding of real estate accounting principles and practices.
  • Experience reviewing financial statements.
  • Demonstrated stable employment history.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software such as ProCore, Banner or Yardi
