This position emphasizes production setup and control, fixturing, test and validation, and the consistent delivery of high-quality products. The Manufacturing/Quality Engineer serves as a key liaison among engineering, production, quality, vendors, and customers-with a strong focus on developing and maintaining systems that achieve rigorous customer quality standards (PFMEA, PCPs, FAIs, etc.).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Setup & Process Control: Plan, establish, and optimize production setups and control systems to ensure repeatable, scalable, and efficient manufacturing. Create and document standardized work instructions, process flows, and tooling/fixturing designs to enable high-quality, volume-based production.
  • Quality Engineering: Interpret and implement customer quality requirements, including PFMEAs, Process Control Plans (PCPs), First Article Inspections (FAIs), and other advanced quality planning tools. Develop, maintain, and audit quality documentation and ensure full compliance with customer standards.
  • Testing & Validation: Design, develop, and validate custom test fixtures and protocols to ensure process capability and verify that finished products meet both functional and quality requirements. Oversee execution of validation and testing during launches and continuous production.
  • PPAP & Compliance: Prepare and submit complete Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation, manage dimensional inspections, and coordinate with internal/external quality resources to fulfill all compliance needs.
  • Customer Quality Management: Serve as primary contact for customer quality inquiries, audits, and issue resolution. Effectively communicate project status, quality concerns, and corrective actions, maintaining transparency and trust.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions (CAPA), and continual improvement initiatives utilizing tools such as 8D, Six Sigma, or Lean methodologies.
  • Cross-functional Coordination: Collaborate with engineering, production, value-add, and supplier teams to develop robust manufacturing and inspection processes. Participate in internal and external meetings to ensure alignment and drive results.
  • Training & Documentation: Train staff on new setups, quality tools, and use of fixtures. Develop and maintain thorough documentation, including SOPs and training materials.
  • Project/Production Planning: Support project engineering and production teams by developing process plans, timelines, and resource requirements for new and existing assemblies.
Requirements:
  • Engineering & Quality Background: Demonstrated experience in manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, or related discipline, preferably supporting pneumatic, electrical, or automated assembly.
  • Customer Standards: Expertise in applying and fulfilling customer-specific quality requirements, including PFMEA, PCPs, FAIs, and PPAPs.
  • Mechanical & Electrical Aptitude: Ability to design, develop, and improve mechanical assemblies, fixturing, and custom test equipment; solid knowledge of electrical principles and wiring.
  • Process Development: Skilled at developing process flows, work instructions, and producing scalable solutions for new projects and volume ramp-up.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong capability in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, problem resolution, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Project Management: Proficiency in planning, organizing, and executing multiple projects to meet deadlines and customer expectations.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and documentation skills; proven ability to coordinate among cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience: Minimum 2+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, or a related field.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient with quality management systems, project management tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and CAD/3D modeling software (such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
Key Competencies:
  • Manufacturing and quality engineering leadership
  • Advanced knowledge of PFMEA, PCPs, FAIs, and PPAPs
  • Production and process optimization
  • Fixturing and testing/validation expertise
  • Cross-functional and customer collaboration
