Machinist I

Summary of Position:

  • Sets up and operates a variety of machines, such as lathes, mills, metal working machines, to perform diversified machining operations on a production basis in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery. Adjusts machine setting to complete tasks according to specification, accurately and in a timely fashion.
  1. Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions:
  • Performs multiple setups and operations to produce metal parts and assemblies on a production or prototype basis.
  • Sets up and operates a variety of machines, such as lathes, mills, precision grinders, etc., to perform diversified machining operations and can be as many as 20+ times a day.
  • Works from drawings, sketches, engineering drawings, and verbal or written instructions given by Supervisor or Team Leader.
  • Performs standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work and tooling. Uses knowledge of speeds, feeds and safe chip control to work efficiently and safely.

  • Uses a variety of precision measuring instruments to check machined parts for conformance to prescribed tolerances.
  • Checks own work for conformance to specifications.
  • Observes and complies with all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Uses computer software to search for parts locations: Oracle and CMTR.
  1. Other Responsibilities and Functions
  • Operates powered industrial truck (forklift) to load and unload material.
  • Helps train lesser qualified employees.
  • Maintains clean, orderly, and safe work area and ensures proper handling of tools, equipment, and stock to prevent loss.
  • Maintains a commitment to teamwork and a positive, supportive attitude to all personnel.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Supports DBS activities such as standard work 5s execution, uses DBS tools provided by Veralto.
  1. Education and Experience:
  • Experience: 2+ Years Machining Lathes or Mills
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Vocational/Specialized training preferred.

The hours are M-F 6 am to 2:30 pm or 8 am - 4:30 pm (we switch every few weeks)OT as needed

Pay Range: $22.00-$24.00 per hour
