Responsibilities:

  • Be a role model for our 3A's of Friendly: acknowledge, assist, and appreciate our customers.
  • Promote our corporate brands effectively to customers.
  • Foster an atmosphere of trust and respect among associates.
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers by assisting them with queries regarding products available in the department and across the store.
  • Develop a thorough knowledge of department products, enabling you to respond to inquiries and make product recommendations.
  • Assist in the preparation of produce platters/trays.
  • Inform customers about special promotions on produce.
  • Recommend items that meet customer needs and preferences.
  • Prepare, package, label, and inventory merchandise accurately.
  • Review and inspect products for quality and freshness; take appropriate action as needed.
  • Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise efficiently.
  • Report any discrepancies in product ordering/shipping to the department manager.
  • Maintain a positive attitude at all times.
  • Stay informed about current, future, seasonal, and special promotions.
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and maintain temperature logs.
  • Support safety initiatives by following safety procedures and reporting any unsafe conditions to management.
  • Engage in preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate personnel of repair needs.
  • Report any customer or employee accidents to management.
  • Identify safety risks or issues, as well as illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud, and report them to management.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced and at times high-pressure environment.
  • Handle conflicts in a calm, non-confrontational manner.
  • Act with integrity and honesty concerning customer and business information.
  • Follow instructions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer issues.
  • Provide support in direct interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Be able to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications:

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Ability to handle stressful situations effectively.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Basic math skills (counting, addition, and subtraction).
  • Must obtain a current food handler's permit post-employment.

Desired Previous Job Experience:

  • Experience in a similar retail environment.
  • Proficiency in a second language (speaking, reading, and/or writing) is a plus.
