Program Overview:

The Urgent Care Fellowship program is a robust 9-month rotation that enhances your clinical experience in Urgent Care Medicine. As a Fellow, you will receive personalized mentorship from Urgent Care Clinical Faculty while gaining hands-on patient care experience and participating in ongoing lectures based on a structured didactic curriculum.

The mission of our fellowship program is to equip you with the comprehensive cognitive and clinical education necessary to become a competent and professional urgent care provider. Our main objectives are to train you in the WellNow core competencies and position you for success in a dynamic Urgent Care setting.

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will collaborate with Urgent Care teams under the guidance of experienced NP/PAs to deliver care to patients at our sites. Your responsibilities include:

  • Examining, diagnosing, and treating patients of all ages with acute illnesses, injuries, or exacerbations of chronic diseases.
  • Ordering evidence-based testing, prescribing medications, and referring to outside specialists as necessary.
  • Providing occupational medicine services, including DOT exams and treating Worker's Compensation injuries.
  • Conducting pre-participation physicals for camps, sports teams, and employment.
  • Maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient charts.
  • Documenting all patient information in Electronic Medical Records (EMR).

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Successful completion of an accredited PA or FNP program.
  • Active board certification with NCCPA for Physician Assistants is required.
  • Active board certification with AANP or ANCC for Family Nurse Practitioners is required.
  • Licensure as a Physician Assistant or Family Nurse Practitioner in the state of application is required.
  • Demonstrated clinical competence, superior communication skills, empirical relational skills, and a strong willingness to learn.
  • The role may be unit, program, or service-based, and involve continuous quality improvement initiatives.
