Join Neal R. Gross and Co., a premier Court Reporting and Transcription services firm headquartered in the Washington, DC area, as we seek skilled Court Reporting Professionals to work on a contract basis. Our diverse clientele includes local, state, and federal courts, the House of Representatives, the Department of Defense, and various private sector clients. We encourage talented candidates who can accommodate flexible schedules, ranging from a few assignments per month to 2-3 per week.

Location: IN-PERSON - client sites in your local area

  • Record proceedings using Machine Shorthand, Voice, or Digital capture methods.
  • Capture verbatim transcripts of courts, meetings, depositions, and hearings.
  • Administer oaths and participate in depositions, hearings, and other legal proceedings.
  • Transport, set up, and efficiently operate recording equipment.
  • Prepare in advance for assignments by building job worksheets, reviewing case info, and ensuring hardware is set up correctly.
  • Secure all exhibits, perform file backups, and complete necessary worksheets after each proceeding.
  • Maintain required reports and logs while promptly responding to all communications.
  • Represent NRGCO with professionalism in all interactions.
  • Engage effectively with high-level clients including Federal Government, State Government, and Private Industry.

Requirements

  • PRIOR EXPERIENCE AND EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED | NO training is provided.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Court Reporter.
  • Attention to detail is essential.
  • Reliable punctuality and ability to meet deadlines.
  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Independently motivated with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Technologically proficient.
  • Must pass security screening for access to client sites, including government buildings.
  • NCRA, AAERT, or NVRA certification is strongly preferred.

This is a contract position and compensation will be based on the candidate's experience.
