The Phlebotomist (Patient Services Representative I) serves as the face of the organization for patients seeking routine care or critical diagnostic insights. This role is responsible for performing high-quality phlebotomy, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and ensuring all procedures are completed accurately, safely, and in compliance with established standards. The position requires strong patient interaction skills, attention to detail, and flexibility to support varying schedules.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform daily phlebotomy and specimen processing activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor
- Draw quality blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory testing following established practices and procedures
- Perform both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties with confidence
- Create an atmosphere of trust and confidence by clearly explaining procedures to patients
- Maintain required records and documentation with accuracy and attention to confidentiality
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public
- Minimum of six (6) months of phlebotomy experience
- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision
- One (1+) year of phlebotomy experience
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment
- Phlebotomy, including pediatric and geriatric collections
- Specimen collection and processing
- Data entry and keyboarding proficiency
- Medical assistant or paramedic training
- Strong patient communication and customer service skills
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as needed
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Sensitivity to confidentiality and accuracy of patient information
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Phlebotomy certification (preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
- COVID-19 vaccination required
